There is a modular building located next to the Kenly Parks and Recreation Center that was donated to the town of Kenly two years ago by the Purolator company to be used as a new senior center for the Kenly Community. However, steps are being taken to turn the building into a community recreation center, said Town Manager Billy Summers. According to Summers, the new recreation center will offer a wide range of community programs, including some senior programs like bingo. “We are going to do some research to see what type of programs would best benefit the people of Kenly,” said Summers. “We are certainly eager to offer senior programming out of the facility.” The town has spent approximately $39,000 on the building thus far, and more funds have been budgeted by the town this year so that the project can be completed, he said. |
